First, both are the market at work, which is, AIUI, how folks on the right want things to be Had it been discovered that the president of Mozilla donated money to a more socially liberal cause, and had the company still reacted in the same way (i.e., calling for his proverbial head) , you would see FAR more outrage.
This "let the market work it out" is only being bandied about because of the specific context. I highly doubt those touting the concept would apply it consistently - they'd be screaming racism or targeting or discrimination.
The ultimate irony in that Mozilla case is that the president of OKCupid made contributions to a political candidate who promoted FAR more insane views than Proposition 8.
