Last time I was in Netherlands our bikes were the same, as that was in the mid-seventies. Actually I've seen some bikes that were upright, sold at Walmart around 2008, but the handlebars were rather tall and wide and pointing backwards, as if on a wheelbarrow. And they had no gear shift, and had only the rear brake, in the rear hub. I've seen those on the boardwalk... and nowhere else. These are for kids, perhaps, to ride around while parents have a drink and enjoy the view of the ocean.

Something's seriously wrong with the theory of supply and demand. You can demand only what they supply.
