I know most of you don't like using general fields, but I have a question
that I still need a little info on.

If I have a general field (I used the append with the link parameter) that all I want to
do is display. If I have a general field that links to an Excel Spreadsheet and I click on
that field, it goes straight to the spreadsheet, but just the lines it takes to fill up the size
of the original field I set up (i.e. 1/2 a page). You can't move up, down, or anything.

If I link to an PDF and click on it, it comes up with a screen display of the file name.
When I click on that, it runs adobe and pulls up the document, on a full screen and I
can move back and forth between pages. Obviously, that is what I want it to do.

At the clients, when I run the app and click on the pdf file, it works just like the spreadsheet
did at my office. Straight to it, one page, no controls. It doesn't go to Adobe at all. It's as
if at my office it knows its a pdf file and at the clients its acting as if its a text file.

How would my system know its a pdf (suffix is pdf), but can't tell on the client pc (file is
also a .pdf)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Brad
