Can you send one of those to yourself, extract the sheet and compare with the original? Just to make sure that it did change.

Judging by the size, it seems to be a xlsx, which is basically a zipped set of folders containing a dozen xml files. If anything went wrong with it during the transport, I guess it wouldn't be possible to open it at all.

My next guess is that the hyperlinks point to things which aren't available on the other side, or that the other side has their Excel with Set Paranoia On (default) so it removes the links. Try to send the same sheets in some other manner and see whether these show the links or not.
