I just found out that a specific project is now showing this in the Error List window in the Warning tab:

There are updated custom wrappers available for the following referenced components: ADODB.

I always assumed that the use of interop was deprecated and we would have to build something else or use something else. Could there be that recently, an updated component to achieve the same was available?
