>>We need to watch out: sex as a transaction seems to be normalizing in today's teens. I've heard a very clever young woman say she's sick of seeing money stress and wants to be a trophy wife, while another openly states she intends to have an easy college life by being a sugar baby. These are kids from upper middle class communities where sexual equality has been assumed for as long as I can remember- or so I thought. Meanwhile Duke student Belle Knox is glamorizing/normalizing participation in porn and we've already seen the first victim (UW student Alyssa Funke) who thought she'd found a source of quick money being videoed having sex with strangers and ended up committing suicide which may or may not have been related to cyberbullying from previous classmates. Seems to me it wasn't perfect in the old days, but most of us had it easy compared to what's going on now including the inability to live anything down once it's on the internet.

>I will tell you the saddest story I've ever seen. In 1992 when working in WIC, I was installing a system at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. In the hallway, I had a brief discussion with a young girl. She had a cold, blank look that really startled me. I found out a few minutes later that the girl was about 12 years old, six months pregnant, and HIV positive. (The nurse who saw me talking to her had no business telling me all of that, but she did anyway).

>It's funny that there were discussions in this thread about men and crying. It was everything I could do to keep my eyes dry the rest of that afternoon. The things on my mind as a 12 year old were baseball and the TV shows I wasn't supposed to watch after my parents went to bed. I didn't have a damn care in the world - yet that girl's life (likely) ended before it even began. The stories you mentioned and the one I've mentioned here are so sad that I can't think of a term to properly describe them.

There are such and such. Your example is terrifying. But in my opinion this is a problem of bad education. There is no way to stop the young if they start it, so one have to prepare.

Other 12 year olds come up with discussions about the legal problems they got, once the boyfriend becames 18 years old ... .
For all I know she is the one starting it while she was 11 years old. (There are a lot witnesses and I know my daughter and the young man)
I send her to the medics for HPV vaccination and end up with a candle and a condom for demonstration and raising her allowance so she does not need the pilfer mine.

Works out fine for the moment.
