I turned on NBC about 7:05 last night, hoping to see the start of the Rangers/Kings Stanley Cup game.

Instead, I saw some badly dressed geezer ranting about his opposition being cowardly and preventing C.C. from winning the Triple Crown.

Triple Crown? Give me a break. The only Triple Crown is the one given to a MLB player who leads the league in homers, average, and RBIs.

So a horse runs around a 1 mile (or 1.5 mile track) and wins three races that only last a few minutes each? Big deal - give the horse a few extra apples and some oats and the boxed DVD set of "Mr. Ed". Or better yet, give those things to the horse owner and give the money to the horse.

Or better still, expose the average of two dozen horses that die every year at racetracks across the U.S. Or the thousands that limp off to possible slaughter when they can't run anymore.

These people don't love the horses - the only love the money.
