Absolutely the wrong advice, especially given the title of this thread. This puts your app outside the protected folders and makes it available for malware to attack and attach to it. If that happens your customers will blame you.

Install the application where it belongs, Program Files or Program Files (x86). If data is local, put it in \Users\Public\YourApp or \Users\UserName\AppData if the data is per user.
