>FWIW, the IRS has already admitted targeting and has committed it won't happen again. Not sure what the digging is supposed to be about- if they're hoping to implicate Obama, seems to me that's a lost cause. As Bill has suggested, unless they move on to more pressing topics, the public will assume it's just more partisan politics.
At the root, this is about a political party and its leader who had control of the White House and both parts of Congress...lost it in part due to a grass-roots political movement....and then were furious at a Supreme Court decision that they felt negatively affected their party....and then decided to use the IRS as a weapon.
Even though I don't like the behavior of Daniel Issa, what can be said is that with each new investigation endeavor, we learn a little bit more.
The IRS "has committed it won't happen again"....really? Are they in a position to be able to make such a promise??? When there's evidence that the IRS told Z-Street (a pro-Israel group) that information on their group will be sent to a special unit in Washington to determine whether the activities of the organization contradict the public policies of the administration......precisely how will they commit that it won't happen again???
There are federal statutes against this kind of behavior (as Trey Gowdy pointed out).
