The Netherlands did not play against England, but against ruling word champion Spain.

I'd think everone up here regards Arjan Robben and Robin van Persie 'bigger' than Wesley Snijder. Robben plays at Bayern muchen and has won many throphy's including the champions leage. Van persie (now named the flying dutchman) plays at Manchester United, one of the best clubs in europe of the last decade. Both have scored goals at 3 WC events.

Together with Wesley snijder, they are named the golden triangle.

The dutch have a mixture of experience and young fresh players. Whether they are able to win from mexico, I do not know. On paper they should be able to do it, and if they do, the road is open to the last 4 as the next oponent is weaker (again on paper) than mexico.

Since 1970, The dutch have never lost a game to the ruling worl champion on a main event:

WC 2014: Netherlands - Spain 5-1

They have played the WC finals 3 times (1974, 1978, 2010) al three times they lost.

The real problem of the Dutch is that though they are strong enough to win from anyone, there always is one game where they throw it away :). But the bottom line is that no country is going to be confortable playing against the dutch.

Hard to say, it has been 16 years since they played at the last WC and EC at all. They certainly have one of the best goalkeepers of the tournament.
