That's true. The bottom line is that any application that isn't fixed will be unpredictable. You could have anything from not being able to enter 2/29/2000 to having a horrible result like poisoning a water supply. I still wonder if that could have been caused just by setting the clock ahead. Maybe the system just thought it was 2 years over due for adding chemicals and dropped 2 years worth in at once. I guess the bottom line is that systems that control physical processes without human intervention are the ones that need to be top priorities.

Dumping the chemicals in the water purification system seems to be an example. We hear about computers shutting down due to the problem, not doing what happened here.
