There are some individual/specific points he makes that are generally valid.
But many of his arguments are very problematic, because his history is incredibly bad. I think he's being sincere but it's one of the worst editorials I've ever read in terms of "this failed in the past because of this and this and this".
Raising the minimum wage is not going to reduce the need for govt reliance - it's time for "cards on the table", the President needs to promote a minimum wage raise because it's the only way to counter the damage that's occurred during his administration: high gas prices for multiple years, increase in payroll taxes, reduction in hours worked (partly due to consequences from AHCA), increase in health premiums for some, etc.
