I've been using CR as long as I can remember and it was like leaving an old friend, but it was time.
Since SAP bought CR, the linkage with VS has been tenuous.
I've had to wait as much as a year before I could use new VS versions because SAP had not published compatible CR libraries for that VS version.
At the same time, MS seemed to be making a large commitment to SSRS.
So after a few fitful starts I decided to commit to learning SSRS.
Now I'm comfortable with SSRS and can do just about anything I need to.
It could be my imagination, but the SSRS viewer seems to render more quickly with comparable data than the CR viewer did.
This is the first time I'm deploying a SSRS app in production.
This app needed some new reports. I wrote the new ones in SSRS and converted about a dozen CR reports to SSRS.
Aside from this glitch, all seems to be well.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
