Well.. this probelm started to just out of the blue get worse
It was affeting 4 out of 12 pcs yesterday
Tried all the stuff suggetsed here bit nothing worked
I then asked them how long was it since they rebooted the server......about 2 months

So I got them to reboot the server this motning..and would you believe it..probelms gone (for now at any rate)
I am still at a loss to know how not rebooting the server could cause a problem on just a few machines ??

Many thanks to all who contributed on this thread

regards,
Gerard

Couple of things I would try...
>Are you keeping the .exe on the workstations? Does your DBC use views or tables?
>Try getting rid of the drive mapping and use unc pathing like \\servername\foldername instead
>Make sure your workstation's anti-virus software is not setup to scan network drives

>>>Maybe anti-virus software causing this?? If your workstations are scanning network drives it can cause odd things like this to happen.
