The minimum wage IS NOT a livable wage and has not been for a long time - long before Obama.>
>IMHO, minimum wage jobs were never meant to provide a living for a family of four. These kinds of jobs are meant as entry level jobs to the work force for teenagers and college students and retired people who greet you at Walmart to supplement their social security and get them out of the house.
But when these start making $12/hr, you can't expect a mechanic to work for $14/hr... so the tide would lift all ships, as they said in the trickle-down (which always looked yellowish to me). And the money will go to the pockets of those who spend it the quickest, as they still won't start saving in any significant amount, and that would put money into pockets of our customers. Which worked great until the late seventies.
