Strangely, the whole problem disappeared after I upgraded a couple of the powerbuilder apps that we use to access the Oracle server. I think the upgrade included newer versions of SQL*Net and/or the ODBC drivers. The DBA here is weak, so I can't find out what the problem was. In any event, I can now connect to Oracle with VFP, which is really cool.

I'm put together a simple app that pulls down Oracle data to DBF files, searches for data entry errors, and then runs an assortment of desicion support queries. My boss is very impressed, and they have ordered Visual Studio 6 just so I can have the latest and greatest Fox stuff. A clear victory for VFP <grin>.
