Argentina came SO close to winning it, closer than most people expected. They can hold their heads high. That said, I have to agree with what Alexi Lalas said in the studio after the match -- Argentina's several muffed great chances will eat at them for a long time.

I was surprised that Messi was given the Golden Boot award as the tournament's most valuable player. Generally it is given to a player on the winning team, and he didn't score a goal in the knockout rounds (although he had many great chances despite Germany never taking their eyes off him).

Another thing that surprised me was reading that Brazilian fans were disappointed, to say the least, in their team's performance, it would have been even worse if Argentina had won. I didn't realize the rivalry was that intense.
