We looked at Brandeis with each of our boys. It wasn't the right place for either of them, but lots of the kids we know went there and loved it.
AFAIK, it's the best school in the US that offers academic scholarships. Most of the comparable schools have only need-based aid these days. The academic money is why several of our young friends chose it.
