I've been using Crystal since version 6, started with the ActiveX control, then using the CRPE comm object, later the other COM object model, but I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Perhaps, that with the CRPE com object model you had to use the FOXHWND ActiveX control to show the report on a VFP form. In the later COM object you could use the CRVIEWER control, which I still use up to today.

But again, VFP windows ARE real windows. Just check in SPY++ you can see the windows and the messages it receives. Its the VFP controls that are bitmaps.
