I think it's rude in the middle of a discussion thread to start posting in another language. I suppose "rudeness" is also an old habit that's hard to break. Candidly, I'd expect that from the other individual but thought you were above that. It's like having X number of people in a room and suddenly 2 blatantly start whispering (or speaking in another language that the others in the discussion don't speak).
