There's an old Andy Griffith episode when Barney gives Andy his resignation letter, and says that he means it. Andy pulls out a bunch of letters from the filing cabinet - they are countless prior resignation letters from Barney


Also reminds me of an old MASH episode when Klinger walks into Col. Blake's office and says he has to go home because he got a letter that his mother died.

"Mother dying and older sister pregnant."
