Why we're going to miss David Letterman when he's gone, part 1000....

A year or less until he goes. I am savoring every bit of it, just as the audiences seem to be doing. He has been a constant in my life for 30 years now. Last night's episode was a perfect example. Much of it was a presentation of new toys. He is 67 and had the boyish enthusiasm of a 10 year old. The musical guests were Brode Dalle, the kind of below the radar band he has habitually given light. I couldn't even estimate the number of great unknown musical acts I have discovered on his show. As Joni Mitchell put it, you don't know what you got till it's gone.
