The error occurs on some requests; randomly; by random users on the same network. Not a specific query or a specific request. Obviously the problem is with the network. I have many good suggestions in this thread on how to "deal" with these issues. One is that now I will add a code (per Borislav's input) to check for the valid connection every time a request is made. This is easy since all of the calls to SQL Server are done via "global" function EXE_SQL_COMMAND. So I will add some code there.
