>>> Ayn Rand world where the more talented do well and the rest can go hang?

>Ironically that's not what she said or thought. The heroes in her stories are businesspeople, but so are her villains. She would identify a lot of villains around the place these days, asserting their right to scoop value out of society in exchange for nothing.
There are as many heroes who don't "own companies" in her novels. Here are some of the main ones.
Kira Argounova - engineer
Dominique Francon - columnist
Steven Mallory - sculptor
Howard Roark - architect
Hugh Akston - Professor
Richard Halley - composer
Kay Ludlow - actress
Ragnar Danneskjöld - a pirate and "reverse Robin Hood" - one of my favorite characters
John Galt himself was more an engineer and inventory.
Only a small # of the villains are businesspeople (James Taggart being a major one)
