>>I have been watching some of Jimmy Kimmel on the Tonight Show to see what the excitement is about. So far I have been disappointed. This seems like a media illusion. To me he is a pale version of that old geezer David Letterman, even Jay Leno, and definitely of the gold standard, Johnny Carson. Sure, there is a lot of pressure on him, but he seems uncomfortable in his own skin. His jokes are not as funny, his guests are not as interesting, his band is not as good, his sidekick is not as good. He is not nearly as quick on his feet as Dave. The biggest turnoff to me is that unconfident grin he has, like a kid caught trying on dad's clothes.

I take back what I said about Jimmy Kimmel. My sleep habits are all messed up due to my housebound state and I just watched Julia Roberts on his program. She is a shrewd A list actress, arguably the most popular actress of her generation, and he charmed her pants off. Yeah, she's an actress, but he drew her out in a way I haven't seen her since she was an unknown in "Mystic Pizza". There is no way Dave at 67 could have done the same. So good for Jimmy on that one.
