That the world powers have not been able to ensure a peace in many decades can only mean, imo, that the world powers do not wish to have peace. Not having peace obviously serves some purpose for those in power, although I am not sure what that purpose is.

Gaza is a blockaded (by land, air, and sea) reservation since 2007. It was a disaster zone before this "war" and is now just a bigger disaster zone. You cannot get peace out of a disaster zone.
