>>>If private property has any meaning, then the OWNER of that property gets to decide what to do with it.

>>But we don't get to do that absolutely. There are zoning laws and deed restrictions and other limits to what we can do with our property. (The deed to my first house specifically prohibited putting a glue factory on the site. :-))

>>Living in society is a trade-off. We gain by banding together and, as John pointed out, thus not having to do everything ourselves. The price we pay for that is some limits on what we do, and sharing the costs.

>As usual, we are in agreement. In fact you may be stealing some of my lines ;-) Democracy is the ongoing great experiment. The narrative of the current era in the U.S. is a very old story, rich vs. poor. A story that seldom has a happy ending.

>Totally unrelated, I saw in the morning news and sports sweep that the Phillies clobbered the Astros. A good outcome in a fallow season. Are you and Marshal taking in many games? I have always believed the true fans are the ones who stick with their team through thick and thin.

Yep, we still have season tickets. Going to generally one per series. A friend bought the same number, leaving us about a third to sell or give away. Someone, we're now down to one set unclaimed. If no one makes me a good offer by tomorrow, I'll give 'em to charity. (The local Ronald McDonald House is happy to have tickets for their families.)

>Also unrelated, I have promised Allie and Emily that I will go to rehab after attending That Conference. It ends at 6 p.m. on Wednesday the 13th.

Good. I was wondering.
