As soon as I can be admitted. As you know, it isn't as simple as checking into an ER. I tried to be preadmitted today and the woman I have fallen slightly in love with, Sam, said I can't do it until you are ready to go. She is also the one who said she thought I was stalling. As an intake counselor I am sure she has heard every lie in the book.

The new Mike Beane will be the same as the old Mike Beane, just hopefully sober. Alcoholism is a lifelong condition. You notice pretty quickly that even the long time recovered, measured in decades, are careful to say they are in recovery, not cured. It can (and sometimes does) come roaring back.
