I don't know what a "brilliant foreign policy" would look like.
We haven't seen anything approaching brilliant foreign policy here since the Marshall Plan and that's a good thing.
We need to focus here.
Practical?
I think so.
He has rejected the idea that projecting US military power is smart foreign policy and I agree with that notion.
It was stupid in Vietnam, it was stupid in Iraq and it will be stupid in just about any instance it's tried in the future.
I disagreed with his venture in Libya and I disagree with his air strikes in Iraq but otherwise I'm in synch with his approach.
Is that popular?
Definitely not.
In our culture the good guys end the story with a shootout.
People who walk away from a fight are dull and don't make good copy.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
