Yes, I realize that. The three rehab places I called earlier today must be mourning Robin Williams because none of them have called back. I just talked to a fourth facility. The woman there said you have to first go to detox in a hospital and call them from the hospital. I'm sure they have heard every lie in the book and aren't going to take my word on faith. Then they can admit me.

The place that was my first choice -- pretty close by, good reputation -- turned me down. The organization, which is called Gateway, has three locations and this one doesn't take adult alcoholics, only adolescents. I have driven by it and it isn't a big place.

At least I did one good thing today. I called the hospital where I spent the past two days and talked to the head nurse on the emergency floor to thank them for the care I received. Nurses must not receive as many compliments as they would like because she was clearly grateful for the call. They do the scut work like changing beds and cleaning up messes. Oddly enough, when I talked to Allie this morning she said she wants to change her major to nursing. She has to pass an entrance exam next month which is mandated by the state of Wisconsin for nursing majors. She has been up to her eyeballs between work and a full summer quarter in school and is going to have to be ready for the exam next month. She said if you don't pass it you have to wait a year to take it again so if she doesn't feel ready she will wait until the end of the year. Unlike her spinster, who has been an ace student from the word go (not bragging, just saying), school has never come easily for her. She is just as smart as Emily, shes just all right brain. She has an understanding of people and what they really mean that is way beyond mine.
