Here's what I mean when I say Zimmerman has Sharpton to thank (in part) for Zimmerman's acquittal.

A better legal strategy would have nailed George Zimmerman for manslaughter or negligence leading to manslaughter.

The prosecution, even aided by a judge who argued with the defense, royally blew the case. They did so by focusing excessively on trying to impeach George Zimmerman's character. This tone and context was initially set by men like Sharpton.

So even when Sharpton had certain key pieces of information on his side - his messaging ultimately was part of the team that blew it. Sharpton ran his mouth for months about racism and stand your ground, where neither had a flipping thing to do with the case.

Unlike many conservatives, I wanted to see Zimmerman do some jail time. The 2nd degree murder charge was just ridiculous - they had no chance of a conviction, but did so out of pressure exerted by the mob that included Sharpton. Had the prosecution ignored the pressure from men like Sharpton and gone for the lesser charge, Zimmerman likely would have done a year or two in jail (which he deserved). Sharpton is part of a TV network that intentionally edited out part of the 911 tape to try to make Zimmerman look like a racist. Again, that kind of thing misses the point, and ultimately affects credibility.
