Tom,
This is a good reason for keeping an up-to-date copy of your GenDBC (or GenDBCX) file in a safe place. You can copy the data for the 'bad' table to an SDF file, delete it from the DBC and recreate it with the appropriate section of the GenDBC file. A simple append does the rest, and long field names and captions are preserved.
