I don't believe that sticking with standards on soverign applications
because if a non-standard approach contribute to the ease of use for the experienced users is more important than the familierty of the interface for novice users
on transient apps OTOH sticking to standards is much more important as
when a user runs this kind of apps he should be able to find his way easely
