>>The deciders of lifetime achievement awards in FoxPro are an incestuous little club.

Maybe there was a point in there but I was drunk and belligerent when I wrote it, so I apologize. And of all people, saying it to you. You really are one of my favorite FoxPeople. I certainly do not question your lifetime achievement status. You have helped more people than you probably know.

I just had the best phone conversation in a long time. It was with a college buddy. I was in a fraternity, something I never expected to happen. I was drawn into a rush party, wandering around campus drinking free rush party beer, by the sound of "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better" blasting out of the open windows. It was recorded by the Byrds and memorably covered by Tom Petty. Happenstance definitely plays a role in life. Some of those guys are still among my best friends. So anyway, just now I talked with my first pledge son, who I have mostly lost track with since he and his family were transferred to North Carolina, near Charlotte. The years disappeared. He now knows exactly what is happening with me. We both laughed a lot, as well as shared a lot. He is doing well in life. (His middle sister is doing even better; she and her husband have a mansion near Wrigley Field and season tickets along the first base line, moving down a row every year. I always had a suspicion she would wind up better off than her younger sister, a knockout who the young guys called up all day long This was before every kid had a cell phone and a Facebook account). My mental health improved more than after any amount of asskicking

Roger McGuinn, the Byrds frontman, introduced a new sound into rock music: the jangly guitar. It was actually pretty simple. He had a second fret put on the bottom of his Rickenbacker, making it a 12 string guitar. Hence what was called the big jangle.

One of the memorable cover versions --
