>>>Again, I'm convinced that for a large number of people this is not about selfishness and self interest but about plain principles.

>>Those "plain principles" are usually that somebody else should pay.

>Again, I have no problems to pay my share, and I'm already in the highest tax-rate. So, no your argument does not hold water for me. What I do have a problem is the shameless greed. That should be heavily taxed. We have inheritance tax, and again I have no problem with that. If you want to get rich, you'll have to be taxed for it.

>OTOH, Taxes should be well spend, abuse and waste should be punished.

>BTW, inheriting your wealth and whether or not being taxed for it has nothing to do with either freedom or capitalism. Things are different here, and we still have as much freedom as you have, and last time I looked, we're still a very economic competitive (capitalistic) country.
Off topic, but I came across some videos that I am interested in your perspective on:
http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2014/04/immigrants_bullied_into_leavin.phphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2oDILZdZvAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcuFWP8LuNgSome would say that the Duindorp (or is it Keizerstraat?) issue is specific to that location and anyone not from Duindorp would have issues with the locals.
Americans are often chastised by Europeans for *some* views on the immigration problem here. Whether or not anyone feels that America should have free and open borders, I think a large portion of this country has no idea the immensity of the influx of foreigners right now. As to Netherlands, I loved my time there and found that the views and behavior varied greatly in different areas - just as it does here in the U.S. For both countries, I think the more moderate (and probably more common) views are mostly ignored by the media and hence other countries mostly focus on the media attention the extreme views receive.
