The thing that has always amazed me about Illinois is that we expect politicians to be corrupt, like it's a job requirement. I would love to guest lecture a 7th grade civics class when the teacher is expected to extoll our wonderful system of democracy. Democracy is no worse than any other system but we're no shining city on a hill.
