>>I have two SQL servers (2012) on opposite sides of the country, each on a working group (not a domain). I have set up one to be a publisher and distributor. When I set up the subscription there are no errors, but the distribution agent wont start. I look in the SQL Agent log and get errors about not being able to determine if my user has permissions. I try to start the distribution manually, but it spins and then does not start, but gives no error.

>Quick question - can you check the windows event log on the server to see if any errors were captured?
Thank you for your response. I did get errors. They were all:
[298] SQL Server Error: 15404, could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Server1\myuser', error code 0x534. [SQLSTATE 42000] (ConnIsLoginSysAdmin)
Log type: SQL Server Agent
Thank You
