Big difference between having a few drinks, and getting stone-cold drunk/stupid.
Between 2004 and 2013 I penned over 50 articles (most over 10 printed pages), in between my day/contract jobs. Believe me, for that kind of volume, one has to have a level of creativity. Certainly for a few of them I'd had a Guinness or two that evening and that might have relaxed me, but never more than that. Truthfully, the best medicine for a clear head for any kind of writing is some type of decent sleep the night before.
