What is so sad is that so many of these bone-headed tragedies are preventable if people would use their brains.
My wife and I are not perfect parents, but we are committed to always using our heads regarding safety of every kind w/respect to our daughter. We see too many instances of children being harmed (or worse) because of stupid negligence.
