>Using VFP Compression, when compressing files larger than 3 GB it appears that the zip file it produces is corrupted and cannot be unzipped.
>It does not display any error, only when trying to unzip the file it gives the error that the file is corrupted. Is this a known issue or is there a work around or perhaps another tool that I could use to zip files larger than that?
Some questions:
- Are you using the latest version i.e.
http://www.sweetpotatosoftware.com/spsblog/2008/12/08/VFPCompressionUpdateACoupleOfFixesAndASlightEnhancement.aspx- With your "corrupted" result, is that using the UnZip functions in VFPCompression, or some other tool e.g. 7Zip?
- What happens if you zip a 3GB file with (say) 7Zip, then unzip it with VFPCompression?
- Are you using removable media e.g. USB hard drive or stick, as the ZIP file target? In that case it's a good idea to safely eject the media (which ensures anything that may be write-cached in RAM is committed to the medium). Failing to do so can cause corruption
