Position: P/T Contract programmer

Description: Development of a sophisticated web and desktop database application tailored to the specific needs of the client's industry.

Details: The XYZ Company has a variety of database software in use going back approximately 20 years, incuding VFP 6, VFP 7, and a very large mission critical 24/7 system running in FP Dos. The client wishes to combine and modernize these applications into one application providing enhanced stability, scalability, web access, and modern features such as customer portals. The evaluation and design phase is completed and active development is underway.

Technology: The system is being developed in VFP with FoxInCloud, in effect creating both a desktop app and an HTML/JS system. The latter is the primary system. The back end is planned to be SQL Server. Approximately 100 concurrent uses are expected to use the system initially. A successful rollout will most likely lead to further development of ancillary and connected systems. There are already several ancillary systems which will run as processes, web sites, and/or VFP apps.

Position: This position would report to and present as working for our company. A VOIP connection will be provided to offer the developer a phone extension in our phone system. The actual development can be done remotely. There will be relatively frequent phone meetings. Onsite travel is most likely not necessary.

Qualifications required: VFP 9 - internediate to advanced level. Experience with data back-ends such as SQL Server and remote view. Ability to learn and adapt development needs and styles essential, as well as an ability to quickly learn the ins and outs of a new industry. Absolute confidentialy is required. Will consider a candidate where English is not his/her first language, but excellent English written and verbal communication is essential. The programmer will be required to learn substantial industry and other information by reading documents and combing existing projects. Self starter a must. 20 hrs a week negotiable. Ability to meet deadlines and a "can-do" attitude.

Big plus: Experience with FoxInCloud.

Pluses: HMTL, JS, CSS, SourceOffSite, and experience in complete project life cycle management.


Time frame: Immediate. Expected duration of project is 6-10 months. Possible additional support or development after that.
