Michel, FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE are functions baked into the database engine in SQL 2012 (Naomi, thanks for mentioning those)
Structurally there's no difference between those functions, and aggregation functions like SUM, MIN, MAX, AVG, etc. So I'm not sure what you mean.
