I'll concede something - and it's a conversation I had with someone a few years ago.
I know someone who used to work in a company that had an eight developer team. At one point it was all male. Then they hired a female. The person I know said, (and I'm paraphrasing), "We were told by our management that we couldn't act like we've acted in the past, we can't tell dirty jokes or anything like that".
My first reaction..."So....if the female is out for a vacation day, you're allowed to act that way for the day?"
The flaw is in thinking that it's OK in any kind of professional setting to act that way, regardless of what gender happens to be present (or not present). Is there sexism out there in the professional world? Sure there is - also a ton of stupidity.
