>>I'm glad that the governors for NY and NJ implemented a mandatory quarantine late Friday - probably the first smart pro-active move we've seen.

Others might consider that there is no scientific basis for this "smart" move. E.g. the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci. Today he used the word "draconian" and says he sees no science to support mandatory quarantine, also appears to support what I said about symptoms and risk. He also points out that such policies risk dissuading experts from trying to halt the disease in Africa. Ayn Rand could have written a chapter about it. ;-)

>>But yes, they should be treated for what they are - people who risked their lives to treat others. THAT is where tax dollars should go - for things that make sense.

Not sure I get your point. Did you see Kaci Hickox's reporting of her experience? http://www.dallasnews.com/ebola/headlines/20141025-uta-grad-isolated-at-new-jersey-hospital-as-part-of-ebola-quarantine.ece

Fauci is correct: much more of that and you risk the disease spreading unchecked in Africa and then perhaps those who are content to see others denied liberty on unscientific FUD grounds, might have to face a little inconvenience themselves. It's not the airport officials' fault: they're reacting to FUD according to their prior experience of threat, which is to incarcerate her and move her around in a big convoy same as any other dangerous detainee.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
