From a virtual environment, a Web site is copying a file from a NAS drive to another NAS drive. The copy is completed and the next operation is to rename that file. This is executed about 40 times a day thus about 1200 times a month. For the past year, this always worked. On one occasion, yesterday, after the copy, the rename was not able to be done.
The message was this:
"Unable to find the specified file."
It seems some kind of a cache issue or file not yet ready was in effect making the next command to rename that file to fail. Could it be possible in such environment that, sometimes, right after it has been copied, the file would not be ready to be seen by the next command immediately?
My rename method already has a retry mode. If that would have been the case, it means that that situation went into a retry mode of 8 times at every 0.25 second, thus failed after 2 seconds, where the file would still not yet have been available.
I have some doubts on that one.
I believe this was caused by something else.
