Actually, if you take some time and read through the responses in the link that John sent you, it might be some help.
Having said that - a good approach is also to build some kind of data access layer. Some people build their own, and some people utilize existing capabilities in frameworks like the .NET entity framework. It's one thing to "just" be able to post that data to SQL server from the web page - it's another to be able to post to SQL server from other parts of your application.
