Hi Des.
We are based in Dublin and have also been using VFP for quite a while.
We have noticed few things with recent versions of windows:

1. If using Large Databses with a filter....it can ground to a halt particulalrly over a lan... Running exact same form over RDP directly connected to the server seems ok...I'd suggest, if you can, that you copy the Filterd' bit into a Cursor, work on the cursor, and then update the table from the Cursor...had to do this to a few screens and it worked

2. Have noticed a lot of funnies, corruptions, data and Indexes not being updated with recent versions of Windows and Windows Server versions. (Windows 7/8 and Server 2012 etc.)
It seems to me it's all related to Buffering (SMB2) on Windows re Databse Tables but have no definitive answer and have been doing a lot of trial and error type stuff

(If you want to give me your email , I can email you my mobile and am happy to have a chat over phone)

Regards,
Gerard

>I am a software developer here in Ireland for nearly 30 years and have been programming in VFP for as long as it existed, working my way up to VFP9. But now with the change over to Windows 7 and Windows 8, I am experiencing problems. My forms seem to hang, especially when filtering data in large tables. So I am considering updating the VFP platform and have read about Lianja.
