Wow, OK, I am trying to do what should be a very simple import of data from an .xlsx file into SQL 2012. I have tried it using the SQL import wizard by:
creating a new table
creating a table then trying to append to it
saving the .xlsx file as a .xls file, then as a csv file then as a tab delimited .txt file
in each case the import it failing.
I have installed Office 2007 (the only version I have at the moment) so that SQL has the import tools it seems to need (not sure why they did not put those IN SQL)
I can create an Access DB and import the sheet into Access just fine. I tried creating an Access Project, tying it to the DB in SQL, and doing an import into SQL through the Access project, but that also failed.
Is Access 2007 not sufficient to support imports into SQL Server? If so, since I dont have Office 2010 or later, what can I do so that I can import this file??
SOOOO frustrated at this. Any and all help with this will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
