Here's my point. He says "this isn't exactly what I want to do (be drunk)", and then society says "here's your options".
I don't see how saying "maybe I should do that" as evidence that everyone on this newsgroup should push him into it. Does it matter what kind of program or if its a formal program?
You could push him into a cult, for all you know, and pat yourself on the back, and then say, well if he drinks alcohol again, we did everything we can do.
Who are actually helping?
And is it ethical for a doctor to be suggesting medical treatments they admit no experience with?
