This may be a stupid question, but...

I have a computer on loan, and would like to use it to test a web site I have been modifying. I have downloaded IIS Express, but not been able to get it to run as I would expect. The web documentation all seems to expect that the installation concluded correctly and the IIS Express service is running. I do not know if it is. How can test this and how do I copy a copy of the web site to it?
